All ages – all the BEST things to do.

Free Parley P. Pratt Freedom Run

Kick off your Independence Day festivities with one of Columbia’s longest-running Fourth of July traditions. The 32nd annual Parley P. Pratt Freedom Run returns on Saturday, July 4, 2026, offering a free and family-friendly way to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.

Held in Columbia, the event welcomes participants of all ages and fitness levels with two options: a 1-mile walk/run and a 5K run. Whether you’re an experienced runner chasing a personal best or simply looking for a fun activity with family and friends, the Freedom Run provides an energetic start to the holiday.

One of the event’s biggest highlights is that participation is completely free. Organizers are also seeking volunteers to help make the annual tradition a success.

The Freedom Run has become a beloved community event over the past three decades, bringing together runners, walkers, families, and neighbors to celebrate freedom, fitness, and community spirit before heading off to enjoy the rest of the day’s holiday activities.

Participants are encouraged to register in advance, though volunteers are equally welcome to get involved and support the event.

With America’s 250th anniversary being celebrated in 2026, this year’s Freedom Run offers an especially meaningful opportunity to honor the nation’s history while enjoying an active morning outdoors.

Registration is open for both participants and volunteers on the website www.pppfreedomrun.com and is completely free.
