All ages – all the BEST things to do.

Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run

Young baseball and softball players have a chance to test their skills and compete on a national stage this weekend.

Columbia Parks and Recreation is partnering with Diamond Council of Columbia to host a free MLB Pitch, Hit & Run event on Saturday, June 13, at the American Legion baseball fields. The event begins at 9:00 a.m. and is open to boys and girls ages 7-14.

Pitch, Hit & Run is Major League Baseball’s official youth skills competition. Participants are evaluated in three key areas of the game: pitching, hitting, and running. Athletes compete against others in their age division, with scores based on accuracy, distance, and speed.

Age divisions include:

  • 7-8 years old
  • 9-10 years old
  • 11-12 years old
  • 13-14 years old

The age cutoff for the 2026 competition season is November 15, 2026.

The event is completely free to participate in and gives local athletes an opportunity to advance through multiple levels of competition. Top performers can move on from the local event to a Team Championship, with the possibility of qualifying for the Finals held during the 2026 MLB World Series.

Whether your child plays organized baseball or softball or simply enjoys the game, this event offers a fun way to showcase their skills in a positive and competitive environment.
