The City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility is giving residents another opportunity to recycle a variety of materials during a special drop-off event this June.
The recycling event will take place Saturday, June 13, at the Grissum Building, where city staff will be available to help residents unload and sort materials into the proper collection containers.

1313 Lakeview St., Columbia
Residents are asked to separate materials before arriving by grouping mixed containers and mixed fibers together to help the process move smoothly.
Accepted Materials
Mixed Containers
- Plastic bottles and containers marked #1 or #2 with screw-on lids
- Aluminum cans
- Metal food cans
Mixed Fibers
- Cardboard
- Newspaper
- Office paper
Glass Recycling Available
Glass bottles and jars will also be accepted during the event. City officials note that glass containers will only be collected at this special drop-off event and are not accepted through regular curbside recycling programs.
