Explore Music, Art, Design and More During Mizzou Arts Walk

The University of Missouri is inviting the community to explore the arts across campus during a free Mizzou Arts Walk on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

The self-guided walking tour will feature music, visual art, theatre, creative writing, fashion, astronomy and design at locations throughout campus. The event is open to community members of all ages.

  • Cost: Free
  • Who Can Attend: All ages; open to the community
  • Registration: Available in advance

Participants can check in at Lowry Hall to receive a map and schedule before exploring the different stops at their own pace. Complimentary snacks will be available, and local food trucks will have additional food available for purchase.

What to See During the Mizzou Arts Walk

Several Mizzou departments, museums and programs will participate in the evening, giving visitors a chance to experience different parts of the university’s arts and academic community.

Highlights include stargazing with Mizzou astronomers using equipment from Laws Observatory, live music outside the Fine Arts Building and a performance by Mini Mizzou.

Visitors can also take docent-led tours at the Museum of Art & Archaeology, explore the atlatls and darts exhibit at the Museum of Anthropology and see the School of Visual Studies alumni exhibition “Root/Route” at Bingham Gallery.

The Missouri Historic Costume and Textile Collection will feature “Fashioning the Faurots,” a special exhibit highlighting pieces from the Faurot Collection donated by Don Faurot’s three daughters.

Poetry, Theatre and Student Design

The Arts Walk will include several opportunities to see the creative work happening on campus. Architectural Studies students will display chairs created from cardboard, while Creative Writing will feature SLAM poetry readings.

Theatre & Performance Studies will also be on hand with information about its upcoming fall season.
