All ages – all the BEST things to do.

Dulcimer Day at the Capitol

If you’re looking for something unique (and very Missouri), this one’s a first. 🎶

“Dulcimer Day at the Capitol” is happening Saturday, April 11 from 9 AM to 3 PM inside the Missouri State Capitol Rotunda—and it’s completely free to attend.

Hosted by the Missouri Alliance for Arts Education in partnership with the Prairie Dulcimer Club, this event is part of Fine Arts Education Week but marks the first-ever celebration dedicated entirely to Missouri dulcimer music.

Throughout the day, you’ll hear performances from musicians across the state, including artists from Columbia, Jefferson City, Springfield, St. Louis, and more. The lineup includes nationally recognized players, student groups, and a full jam session where musicians come together for a collaborative concert.

There’s also a strong education focus behind it. In addition to the performances, workshops are helping teachers learn how to bring dulcimer music into classrooms, keeping the tradition alive for the next generation.

Whether you’re already into folk music or just curious to hear something different, this is an easy, low-key way to experience a piece of Missouri’s musical roots in a really cool setting.
