This one feels like a mix between a pop-up zoo, kids’ festival, and dessert stop all in one.
A traveling experience called Wild Adventures: A Smart Zoo Experience is coming to Columbia on Friday, April 24, bringing a lineup of animatronic animals, interactive activities, and plenty of family-friendly fun.
The event runs from 2–7 p.m. at Lowe’s (201 Conley Rd) and features everything from life-like lions, tigers, elephants, and a massive King Cobra to dinosaurs and other larger-than-life displays. It’s designed to feel immersive, with lots of opportunities for kids to explore, play, and take photos.
Beyond the animals, there’s quite a bit packed in. Expect VR aquarium experiences, soft play areas, fossil dig pits, face painting, and hands-on activities that keep kids moving and engaged.
And yes, cookies are a big part of it. Admission is tied to a purchase, with cookies priced at $5 each or 6 for $25, and each attendee needs one to enter. There are also giveaways leading up to the event where some people can score free admission and cookies. (follow along on the I Heart Cookies FB page for more information)
A few activities like VR and face painting cost extra, but the main experience is built to be an easy, come-and-go afternoon for families.
If your kids love animals, dinosaurs, or anything interactive (and you don’t mind pairing it with a cookie), this is one of those events that keeps them busy for a while—and gives you a reason to get out of the house.
