Looking for an affordable bike in Columbia? University of Missouri Surplus Property is holding a special walk-in bicycle sale on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, with a unique raffle system determining who gets first pick.
The sale will take place at MU Surplus Property, 1507 Capen Park in Columbia. Bikes officially go on sale at 10 a.m.
How the Bike Sale Works
Because there may be plenty of shoppers hoping to snag a bike, MU Surplus will begin handing out raffle tickets for line placement around 9:30 a.m.
At 10 a.m., tickets will be drawn to determine shopping order. The person whose ticket is drawn first gets the first opportunity to choose a bicycle, followed by the remaining shoppers according to the drawing.
Each bicycle will be individually tagged with its price, so there isn’t one set price for all bikes.
You Can Look at the Bikes Before the Sale
Bicycles will be available on-site to view before the sale begins. However, test rides or “joy rides” will not be allowed.
Shoppers should also keep in mind that these are surplus bicycles. All bikes are being sold as-is, where-is, and MU Surplus does not provide warranties.
All purchases are final, with no refunds or returns.
