Young musicians in Columbia have a unique opportunity to showcase their talents at one of the city’s historic landmarks! The John William “Blind” Boone Foundation is inviting area public-school students to apply for its Youth Music Showcase.
Presented in association with Columbia Public Schools, the showcase gives selected student musicians the opportunity to perform inside the historic home of John William “Blind” Boone, the celebrated pianist and composer who once lived and played there.
The opportunity is open to students performing in all musical genres, whether they sing, play an instrument, or perform as part of a small group. Solo performers, duets, and ensembles are welcome to apply.
Inspired by Blind Boone’s musical legacy, the program encourages young performers to share their creativity, build confidence, and perform in a space connected to Columbia’s rich musical history.
How to Apply for the Youth Music Showcase
There is no fee to apply, and students interested in participating will need to provide information about their musical performance.
Applications should include the student’s instrument or vocal type, one or two pieces they would like to perform, and contact information for a teacher, parent, or guardian.
The foundation will follow up with applicants regarding performance dates and additional details. The fall showcase is the program’s featured performance opportunity each year.
