The Mizzou-KU rivalry is getting a charitable twist this September. Mizzou’s Tiger Pantry and KU’s Campus Cupboard are going head-to-head in a friendly competition to see which school can raise the most money to fight food insecurity.
The Mizzou vs. KU Food Fight runs through Sept. 13, giving Tiger fans another reason to show their school pride before the rivalry hits the field.
Help Mizzou “Open a Can” on KU
Instead of collecting points, this competition is collecting donations.
Money donated on Mizzou’s behalf supports Tiger Pantry, which provides food, toiletries and other essential items to members of the university community who need them.
The goal? Raise more than KU’s Campus Cupboard while helping keep Tiger Pantry stocked.
Mizzou has fittingly dubbed the challenge “Open Up a Can on KU.”
How to Participate
The competition runs Sept. 1–13, 2026, and supporters can contribute directly to the fundraising effort.
Whether you’re a Mizzou student, alum, Columbia resident or simply someone who wants to help address food insecurity, a donation counts toward Mizzou’s total.
It’s a little Border War competition with a much bigger purpose: helping make sure people in both university communities have access to essentials when they need them.
And, of course, Tiger fans get the added satisfaction of trying to topple the Jayhawks while they’re at it.
