A new holiday celebration is coming to Columbia, and it’s bringing a little bit of everything, including Santa Claus, Highland cows, local shopping, and a chance to explore one of the city’s historic homes!
The Boone County History & Culture Center is introducing Merry Maplewood, a free holiday event taking place Sunday, November 8, 2026, at Historic Maplewood House in Nifong Park.
This inaugural celebration invites families and visitors to enjoy an afternoon of seasonal activities while experiencing the charm of the historic property.
Guests can tour Maplewood House, visit with Santa, and participate in holiday crafts. Local makers and vendors will also be on hand, offering an opportunity to get a head start on Christmas shopping while supporting small businesses.
One of the more unusual attractions? Highland cows! Visitors will have the chance to meet these fluffy animals as part of the festivities.
Families can also stop by the beautifully decorated porch of Maplewood House for a holiday photo, making it a fun opportunity to capture a seasonal memory.
