About the Film
The Negro Artist is an award-winning documentary produced by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Nik Heftman. The film follows the journey of poet, author, and performer Caleb “The Negro Artist” Rainey, a Columbia native whose work explores identity, creativity, and the transformative power of poetry.
Through personal storytelling and artistic expression, the documentary highlights how poetry can inspire dialogue, build community, and challenge perspectives.
