Missouri River Relief is helping more people get out on the water this season with its free Catfishing Gear Library in Columbia. The program lets families and first-time anglers borrow fishing gear at no cost for a weekend Missouri River adventure.
Participants can check out poles, bait, tackle, and other essentials by filling out a checkout form before the Monday ahead of their planned weekend trip. Gear pickup is available at the organization’s shed located at 916 N. College Ave., Suite 2 in Columbia.
For anyone new to fishing, the program also includes beginner-friendly how-to guides and the option to sign up for a free 1.5-hour lesson with experienced instructors. During guided lessons, no fishing permit is required. Missouri River Relief also provides maps of recommended fishing spots, including Cooper’s Landing and Eagle Bluffs.
The program is designed to make river access easier and help more families enjoy time outdoors together along the Missouri River.
More information and gear reservations are available at riverrelief.org/catfishing-gear-library/.
