Columbia residents now have another convenient place to recycle glass bottles and jars, thanks to an expanded partnership with Ripple Glass.
The City of Columbia has added a second glass recycling drop-off location at 1242 Ashland Road, in the contractor parking area on the University of Missouri campus. A purple Ripple Glass recycling bin is now available for residents to use at no cost.
The new location joins the existing glass recycling site at Columbia’s landfill complex (5700 Peabody Road), giving residents two options for keeping glass out of the landfill.
Where to Recycle Glass in Columbia
Both drop-off locations are free to use:
- New Location: 1242 Ashland Road, University of Missouri campus contractor parking area
- Existing Location: 5700 Peabody Road, Columbia landfill complex
What Glass Can You Recycle?
The purple bins accept empty glass food and beverage containers, including bottles and jars of any color.
Before dropping off your glass, keep these recycle guidelines in mind:
- Empty all bottles and jars of food and liquids.
- Labels can stay on.
- Remove and discard lids and bottle caps.
- Place containers individually through the bin openings.
- Do not leave oversized glass items outside or on top of the bins.
Residents should also remember that glass is not accepted in Columbia’s curbside recycling program and should never be placed in blue recycling bags.
For Columbia residents who have been looking for an easier way to recycle glass, the new campus location offers another option to add to their radar.
