Ready. Set. SLIDE! 🛝 Columbia Parks and Recreation’s Visit Your Park Playgrounds Challenge officially kicks off May 23, and families have all summer long to explore playgrounds across the city.
From May 23 through Sept. 7, participants are challenged to visit playgrounds at 10 or more Columbia parks, track their visits, and turn in a completed tracking sheet to Parks and Recreation. There’s no cost to participate, and everyone who visits at least 10 playgrounds will receive a small prize. Those who make it to 20 parks or more will be entered for a chance to win a $100 Parks and Recreation gift certificate.
Fun fact: Columbia’s park system includes 79 parks and 52 playgrounds, many located near walking trails, shelters, and open play spaces — making this an easy way to turn ordinary summer days into mini adventures. 🌳☀️
Tracking forms are available in English and Spanish and can be requested by emailing Janet.Godon@Como.Gov. Forms can also be picked up at the Columbia Parks and Recreation Office at 1 S. 7th St. or the Armory Sports Center at 701 E. Ash.
