A Missouri nonprofit is looking for volunteers to help spread some Christmas cheer to more than 400 seniors this holiday season, including residents right here in Columbia.
The Connected Generations Foundation has opened sign-ups for its annual Santa for Seniors program, which matches community members with seniors living in nursing homes and senior care facilities.
Instead of buying a generic gift, participants receive a personalized Christmas wishlist from a senior and put together a gift basket filled with the items they requested.
The program is serving several Missouri communities this year, including residents at Columbia Manor in Columbia. (This is their first year branching into Columbia and there are about 40 seniors at this facility.)
How to Become a Santa for Seniors
Getting involved is simple! Volunteers can sign up through the Connected Generations Foundation website to sponsor a senior.
After registering, participants will receive their assigned senior’s Christmas wishlist by November 15. Sponsors are asked to shop for personalized gifts with a suggested budget of $50–$100.
Completed gift baskets must be dropped off December 11–13, 2026. The foundation will email specific drop-off instructions and deliver the gifts before Christmas.

- Beautiful Savior Nursing Home in Belton
