Columbia residents can swap out old light bulbs for energy-efficient LEDs and safely dispose of household batteries during a special event hosted by City of Columbia Utility Services next week 💡🔋
The city’s first annual Light Bulb Exchange and Battery Disposal Event will take place Monday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the City Hall lobby at 701 E. Broadway.
Residential electric customers can bring in old functional bulbs and exchange them for new LED bulbs, with a limit of four LEDs per household. Community members can also drop off old household batteries for proper disposal during the event.
Officials noted that boat batteries and car batteries will not be accepted.
