One of Columbia’s longtime cultural events is returning Memorial Day weekend with dancing, music, art, food, and community celebration 🪶🎶
The 16th Annual For the People Pow Wow will take place May 23–24 at its new location inside the Activity Hall at the Northeast Event Center at the Boone County Fairgrounds.
The free public event welcomes everyone and will feature Native American art vendors, Native food, raffles, inter-tribal dancing, and traditional gourd dancing throughout the weekend.

Saturday’s schedule includes grand entries at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., along with inter-tribal dancing and gourd dancing throughout the day and evening. Sunday’s events continue with dancing beginning at noon and a grand entry at 2:30 p.m.
Organizers say tent and RV camping will be available onsite, though there will be no electric or water hookups. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs, as seating is limited inside the facility.
The event will also feature singers, dancers, and drum groups from across the region, including host southern drum group Drowning Creek from Oklahoma.
