Ever wanted to paddle the Missouri River but didn’t know where to start? Stream Teams United is offering a free guided one-day paddle trip designed especially for first-time Missouri River paddlers.
The trip takes place Thursday, May 21, and will cover about 14 miles of the Missouri River by canoe. Participants will meet at Noren Access in Jefferson City before being shuttled to Marion Access west of Jefferson City, then paddle back to Noren Access where vehicles will be parked.
Lead educators from Earth’s Classroom and a motorized safety boat will accompany the group throughout the day. Participants will also receive a fuel card for travel to the event and a free lunch during the paddle.
The event is open to beginners, and paddlers will either be paired with an experienced canoe partner or placed in a guided multi-person canoe. Organizers say limited spots are available, and confirmed participants will receive additional details before the trip.
The paddle is expected to wrap up around 3:30 p.m. that afternoon.
