The Flourish Initiative is thrilled to partner with Boone County Children’s Services Fund, the Missouri Job Center, the City of Columbia ARPA, and community employers to offer the Flourish Prep II Internship!
This internship is designed to introduce recent Boone County high school graduates to different career fields.
All interns will participate in personal and professional development programming and have the opportunity to access well-being support from Flourish’s Community Support staff.
Application Info:
- Applications will open Monday, Jan 12th.
- Applications will close at 5pm CST on Wednesday, March 18th.
Details:
- Exposure to unique work culture at Columbia-based employer
- Expected commitment of 35-40 hours/week for the duration of May 26-August 7 (work hours and schedule vary depending on worksite)
- Paid $15/hour
- Paid personal and professional development on Tuesdays with Flourish and entire group of interns
- Eligible for $2,500 scholarship upon successful completion of the internship program
Internship & Job Duties (will vary based on work site):
- Providing general administrative assistance and support
- Learning and mastering assigned tasks
- Assisting team members with tasks
- Submitting all assignments by due date
- Consistent attendance
- Participating in group trainings and discussions
Preferred Skills:
- Consistent typing skills – ideally 25-35+ words per minute
- Comfortable with computers and technology; able to do standard tasks without assistance
- Notable time management skills – able to multi-task, self-correct, and reprioritize in an adaptable work environment
- Able to clearly communicate issues and ask questions to team members
- Reliable/consistent transportation
Eligibility:
- Will be a recent graduate of a Boone County high school or HiSET (Dec 2025 or May 2026)
- Identify as a youth (17 to 19) experiencing employment or career barriers
- Proficient in English
- Must upload resume
- The Flourish Prep II Internship program is only offered during the summer months and you must be available for the program in its entirety.
