EXPIRED: Early Days of Missouri’s Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program 40th Anniversary Presentation

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program by attending a presentation by folklorist Amy Skillman.

She served as Missouri’s second state folklorist from 1986 to 1988, where she managed and conducted field research for the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program. She worked closely with an array of traditional artists in the Show Me State, including Irish musicians, Laotian weavers, and old-time fiddlers.

The presentation will begin in the Capitol rotunda at 2:30 PM, followed by a Q&A session. You will then have the chance to view the museum’s newest exhibition, “Missouri Makers: Celebrating 40 Years of Missouri’s Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program.”

FREE to attend, and open to the pubic. No registration needed.

For more information, call the museum director at 573-522-6949.

TIP: Weekend access to the Capitol is on the south side (facing the Supreme Court Building). Walk up the carriage drive to the tunnel under the grand staircase and enter. All visitors to the Capitol are subject to security screening by Capitol Police.
