Celebrate Juneteenth at Douglas Park with a Free Community Event

Columbia’s Juneteenth celebrations continue on June 19 with an afternoon dedicated to honoring Black history, culture, achievement, and community. Hosted by The Juneteenth Community Group, this free event brings together speakers, performers, artists, vendors, and families for an evening of celebration and connection.

Centered around the theme “Living the Legacy! Teaching Positive Growth!”, the festival offers something for all ages while recognizing the significance of Juneteenth and the enduring contributions of Black Americans.

Featured Guests and Performances

The event will include appearances from:

  • KOMU news anchor Marvis Herring (co-host)
  • Attorney Camela Gardner (co-host)
  • Guest speaker Pastor Jonathan T. Tucker
  • Performance by Rhonda Harper, who made history as the first Black woman to direct an HBCU band

Attendees can also enjoy a special hair show presented by D’mmi Stylez Beauty Bar and Sarah Brown.
