Explore Columbia’s Spooky Past on a Haunted History Tour

Columbia has plenty of history, but some of its oldest buildings may have a few spooky stories to tell! CoMo Preservation is hosting Haunted History Tours on October 24, 25, and 30, giving participants a chance to explore the city’s historic architecture while hearing tales of the paranormal.

These guided walking tours will take visitors past several historic buildings in Columbia, sharing intriguing stories and mysteries connected to the city’s past. Along the way, participants can learn about the architecture and decide for themselves whether something might still be lingering behind those old walls.

Leading the tours is Chris VanPool, a professor of anthropology at the University of Missouri who has conducted extensive research into paranormal subjects. Her interest in the unexplained adds an interesting perspective to the historical stories shared throughout the evening.

The walking route covers just a few blocks and is less than one mile long, with easy to moderate walking along accessible sidewalks and streets. It’s a fun option for history lovers, paranormal enthusiasts, or anyone looking for something a little different to do during Halloween week.
